CHAMISA CORNERED
CHAMISA CORNERED
CCC leader, Nelson Chamisa`s leadership is under threat.
External and internal forces linked to his party are
expressing huge concerns over his leadership style and qualities.
The failure to have people driven agendas in his party have
now also courted the ire of western diplomats who are alleged to now having
doubts on his ability to turn the tide, against the ruling party, Zanu PF and
thereby set the stage to form a new government, come election time, later this
year.
The west as usual is bent on meddling in the internal
processes in our country and has poured millions of dollars into various
organizations that do push the regime change agenda, but with no gains made in
attaining that goal.
Chamisa runs his loose coalition as a personal fiefdom and
the party is basically structureless.
Structures are the backbone of any political party and
Chamisa`s backers and funders are aware of it, but have tried, but in vain to
convince the arrogant leader to follow the dictates of basic democratic
internal party values.
The ruling party, Zanu PF, even as of today is engaged in a
rigorous exercise to put finality to its grassroots structures, that come in
the form of cells.
To Chamisa, structures are not a priority to him, even on
the least of terms, but he is primarily focused on furthering his ambitions to
be the first citizen of this country.
Dictatorship is the order of the day in the CCC corridors of
power and the party intends to handpick candidates for the harmonized elections
with no talk of primary elections.
Members of his party now feel the effects of Chamisa`s self-centered
actions and some are showing him open dissent.
A time bomb is waiting to explode in the camp of the main
opposition, with two major scenarios now brewing up. Chamisa has exposed
himself to an internal revolt that might see him being unceremoniously pushed
out, before or after the elections. The CCC internal politics also smells of a
split in the offing and he lacks the will to hold the opposition together,
since his agenda is centered on his personal ambitions.
When contacted for comment, Tawanda Magunje, a senior CCC
official in Mashonaland West Province defended his party position and said that
they don`t have room for party structures, since they are prone to
infiltration.
“We don`t see the need for structures within our movement,
since it`s owned by the people, “said Magunje.
Magunje also gave support to the undemocratic way CCC uses
to select its elections candidates and he said: “Our party will not hold
primary elections, since they are open to abuse by rich people who end up
buying support and votes, and thereby elbowing out the best candidates and that`s
why we leave it to the citizens to recommend their preferred candidates.”
Structures are a big show of strength and come as a result
of the will to being transparent and their existence in any organization does
reflect sharing of responsibilities and duties.
Absence of elections in any body is a true reflection of
dictatorial tendences based on imposition of candidates spiced with favoritism
and in some cases nepotism, coupled with tribalism.
With these at play Chamisa`s demise is near and it will be
activated by his allies and his `so called citizens`.
